Nothing comes to those who wait
If You Let It Pass—That’s On You
There’s a strange comfort that comes from believing the universe owes us something. We love the idea of fate. It’s poetic and comforting. Like the universe has a secret plan with our name on it, just waiting for the perfect moment to unfold. But here’s a question we don’t ask enough:
What if nothing is actually coming? What if “what’s yours” isn’t waiting for you at the end of some divine timeline, but sitting miles away—guarded by effort, failure, and persistence? What if, in believing too much in destiny, we’ve quietly trained ourselves to sit still, expecting life to deliver what only action can claim?
I sometimes wonder if there are people who actually believe that what belongs to them would inevitably be theirs, as if they are entitled to it merely by virtue of their existence. As if life has some divine filing system where everyone’s portion waits patiently to be delivered at the right time, no matter their effort or lack thereof.
I’ve seen this mindset wreck friendships, sabotage careers, and rot opportunities at the root. People lose partners they could’ve fought for, jobs they could’ve prepared for, and dreams they could’ve birthed 'cause they were busy being still in the name of fate.
The danger of this narrative isn’t just in its laziness—it’s in its silence. It encourages people to be still when they should be moving, passive when they should be reaching. It turns desire into a waiting game and turns passion into paralysis. It doesn't teach patience—it teaches avoidance.
And avoidance has never built anything worthwhile.
Here’s the hard truth: The universe owes you nothing. You only get what you’re brave enough to pursue. What you want won't always want you back, but if you don’t knock, don’t be surprised when no door opens
You cannot manifest your way into greatness. You cannot vibe your way into a fulfilling relationship or “affirm” yourself into your desired Job. You can only build your way there.
You can’t wait for the stars to align, you have to build the constellationIt’s baffling how many people would rather sit caged in their minds than risk the cringe of trying. They’d rather be silently unfulfilled than risk being seen and misunderstood. But here’s the catch:
If you don't allow yourself to be seen, how will you ever be found? So no, what belongs to you won’t simply come. Not because it wasn’t yours—but because you never showed up to claim it.
You didn’t fight for it. You didn’t ask for it. You didn’t walk towards it.
This doesn’t mean life is unfair—it means life is honest. It responds to action, not assumption. To intention, not entitlement. The universe doesn’t conspire for those who wait—it conspires for those who move.
Always remember:
What you don't fight for, you forfeit. And what you don’t pursue, you permit to pass.
So here’s my truth, and maybe yours too:
Whatever you want, go seek it. Work for it. Bleed for it if you must. Because nothing truly belongs to you unless you've faced yourself and earned it.

Nothing ooo!
The title alone eh
Hard truth. I once saw an IG post where the poster said something like “you don’t build anything just by saying daily affirmations in front of your mirror”. I felt it and anytime I want to feel relaxed, I remember that the grass is free where it’s been watered.
Thank you for this piece.
